Button, Belted & Tied

I think most people would agree that their dream is to be self-employed/independently wealthy/not work an office job. But there is something to be said for getting to dress up in business and business-casual attire. It makes me feel like a real adult (which, based on my behavior most of the time, clearly I am not). Playing pretend is fun.

I love the pop of color this silk Coach scarf adds to a primarily neutral outfit. I bought it off eBay back in high school because I thought it would make me super cool if I owned something by Coach, but couldn’t even come close to affording a bag. Well, it didn’t make me cool because what the heck is a 14-year-old going to do with a silk square scarf? Not much. Let’s just say it didn’t exactly go with my Hollister sweatpants.

Now, a little older, I wear it all the time as a neck scarf, handbag embellishment and head scarf.

  1. I agree with you. There is just something about dressing up in business like clothing. I love it now that I have lost the weight. Make me feel powerful as well :)

  2. Im with you on this one. I’m a stay at home mom but I love pencil skirts! Love the story about the scarf. Reminded me of all the dumb things I did in high school to be cool. :)
