Wrapping Up Summer 2013: Life Changes, Bold Prints and a Big Thank You

Fringe L*Space bikini top, bright patterned Paper Heart shorts and MOSCOT sunglasses

It’s the last official day of summer, and I couldn’t help but give a nod to the season with one last warm-weather outfit because the last few months have truly been the craziest, but most significant and exciting in recent memory. Oh jeeze, it’s getting sappy, cue the scrolling. I know, I know, bear with me…

At the start of the summer, I was an Editor, working your typical 9-to-5 in an office, blogging as a hobby when I had the spare time, with no big plans—basically just coasting along. Content and happy, but coasting. Fast forward to today, and I’m self-employed (“employed” usually implies money is being made, so I use the term loosely here), in the process of getting my personal trainer certification, focusing full-time on turning Pumps & Iron into a career, aspiring to teach fitness classes around Boston and, well, definitely not coasting. More like free falling off a cliff and wildly flailing my arms. But in the absolute best way possible.

It’s scary, but at the same time, I’ve never felt more sure about the direction my life is going. Every day is exciting, I feel a whole new sense of purpose (yeah, that’s right, taking pictures of myself doing burpees in my living room is my purpose—we can’t all be doctors, ok??) and I’m truly the happiest I’ve ever been.

So cheers to Summer 2013, and most importantly, cheers to all of you reading this. Without you, this passion for health that I have wouldn’t be turning into the career that it is, and I’m forever thankful. In fact, I love you all so much that I’m going to stop with the dramatic diary entry and get to what’s really important here: fringe bikini tops, crazy shorts and sunglasses…

In another outfit post, I mentioned my newfound obsession with MOSCOT sunglasses, and the ones I’m wearing today are their Shepard frame—one of my favorites from their current collection. I’ve been really into gold jewelry lately (rings especially), so the detailing on these shades is a perfect match.

At the start of summer, I dedicated a whole post to bikinis I was craving, and while my cruel, tyrant of a bank account didn’t allow me to actually buy all them, I did snag this fringe L*Space bikini top, and it was a favorite all summer long—especially when paired with these fun shorts.

  1. I so wish I lived in Boston so I could take your classes/train with you once you become a personal trainer/fitness instructor. I love that you have such a healthy approach to fitness and life (aka, you don’t expect people to not enjoy alcohol/a big brunch/holiday treats). I’m excited to see what’s planned for you and Pumps and Iron!
