Get Excited, Boston. Vélo-City Is Your New Favorite Spin Studio.

Vélo-City spin studio in Boston's Back BayYou’ve probably noticed by now that I love spinning—it’s not just a great cardio workout, but the new wave of indoor cycling incorporates hand weights and lots of out-of-the-saddle movements that work your whole body. And what I love most is that with the right instructor, right studio atmosphere and right music, you can’t help but get SO INTO IT. It’s the type of workout that’s really fun to do with friends. Especially if said friends have never worn spin shoes before and you get to laugh at them when they get stuck in the pedals at the end of class.

Just kidding. Not really…

But speaking of friends, my (boy)friend just opened Vélo-City, an amazing new spin studio in the Back Bay, with his three partners/friends. The space turned out so great—as you walk down into the studio, the stairwell is lined in Boston/bike themed graffiti, and then the lobby area is spacious and open with plenty of cubbies for storing your bags/coats.Vélo-City spin studio in Boston's Back Bay

The studio itself (where the bikes are) is probably one of the largest in Boston. The instructor can control the lighting (dimming/black light/near black-out) to go with the ride and playlist, and the place looks so sick in the black lighting. The guys really did a killer job with the studio, and I’m not just saying that because I have one of their names tattooed across my lower back.Vélo-City: spinning studio in Boston's Back Bay

In celebration of the official opening on December 2nd, Vélo-City is offering free classes this week (reserve your bike here):

Tonight @6PM

Thursday @9AM

Friday @10AM

Saturday @10:30AM

Sunday @11:30AM

If you can’t make any of them, no worries—your first class once the regular schedule starts is only $10. You can book a class online HERE or you can download the Vélo-City app for your iPhone or Android. I did a friends & family class there last night and another class there this morning, and loved both the instructors—they really put together an A+ lineup of teachers.

Let me know if you sign up for a class! If I’m at the studio for it, I’ll be sure to say hello. 🙂

And for the record, I do not have anyone’s name tattooed on my lower back. It’s the Wu-Tang symbol surrounded by butterflies and tribal patterns.
