Keeping It Casual…While Breaking and Entering

faux leather leggings, sweater and reflective sunglassesWhen I’m not wearing workout clothing, I pretty much live in (faux) leather leggings and a comfy sweater. I’ll throw on a pair of reflective sunglasses to make this otherwise simple, casual outfit a little more fun.

What doesn’t, however, make this simple, casual outfit a little more fun is having to break into a second-story window while wearing said outfit. After I took these pictures, I realized I had locked my house key inside, and had to climb up the roof to the only unlocked window and shimmy headfirst inside. Luckily I’ve seen Home Alone 2: Lost in New York like 80 times, so have breaking and entering down to a science.

Do you have any good stories about getting locked out of your house? One time in college getting locked out ended with me and my roommate sleeping in moving boxes on our deck…there may or may not have been alcohol involved with that one. 🙂

  1. Hahahaha, awesome! That picture of you breaking in to your house head-first rocks. I needed my neighbor to break into my apartment after I’ve forgotten the keys while doing laundry downstairs. Too sad I didn’t leave my window open.

  2. Locking myself out is always a sign that I have too much going on in my life. But the worst was in my old apartment, when my neighbor woke up with back spasms and was locked *in* her apartment. She couldn’t get out of bed to let anyone in, and the locksmith couldn’t pick the lock. They wound up having to take the whole lock off to get in. After that, she started keeping a spare in a lockbox outside. Not a bad idea, really….

  3. I locked myself out of my truck once a couple hours away from home – fortunately I was by a Salvation Army dropoff, I tied 2 ski poles I found together, pried open the back window a couple of inches and used the poles to (eventually) hit the door open button. I now triple check before locking car doors. And if you have to break and enter, awesome to look great doing it. 😉

  4. Love this outfit. I’ve been living in leggings and motorcycle boots for the past two months. Can’t say I hate it. And I’ve never heard of No Rest for Bridget–can’t wait to browse their site!

  5. My mom and I lived with my grandparents as a kid and my grandpa would lock himself out of the house literally everyday. (He’s a bit of a goofball.) He always kept the window above the firewood stack unlocked so tiny little me could climb in and let him in the house. He just stopped locking the door at some point.

  6. I’ve been looking for leggings like these for forever! Where did you get yours?

  7. I’m obsessed with my faux leather leggings and big sweaters too. When I got the leggings I couldn’t stop wearing them, but then I had to move back to Florida and its not exactly faux leather leggings weather 🙁

  8. Those leggings are the bomb! I have similar ones from American Apparel and they’re already worn out. I have to go get another pair, because I’ll never not have them in my closet.

  9. gorgeous casual outfit. Absolutely love the ankle boots, so perfect for winter!

  10. Aww cute! I love your sweater and the picture of you trying to climb into the window! haha 🙂 Thanks for sharing! Oh, if you get a chance, I am hosting a giveaway 🙂

  11. Alright – I’ve been a longtime lurker (new commenter though) of your blog, but this post had me ugly laughing WRT the breaking in. Never has there been such a chic burglar (except for maybe Catwoman). Your bodyweight workouts have been SAVING me in Australia, given that the “gym” in our hotel is a joke. Keep on keepin’ on, girl.

    • Haha Catwoman definitely has me beat–I’ll take second place though. 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your time in Australia! I’ve never been, but my cousin is getting married there next year and I can’t wait!

  12. I’m obsessed with leather leggings too! ( I also live in workout clothes so it’s rare that you will see me in them.) Recently found your site and I think it’s great!

  13. Ahh this is the perfect wintertime outfit! It looks so comfortable but also very fashionable with the leather leggings. Love, love, love.

  14. Love those leggings! I have some from American Apparel and I can’t live without them!

  15. Cute outfit! I completely forgot that I own mock leather leggings (Christmas present) until this post.

  16. love this outfit! do you know what the sweater is called? i cant find it and want to buy it. is that creepy? 🙂
