My Latest Stitch Fix Styles (+Tips for Getting a Good Fix)

stitch-fix-outfits-styled-2I got another A+ fix this month from Stitch Fix (kept everything!) so decided it was time for more fake modeling. If you’re new to the blog and Stitch Fix, you can read more about it in my first post here. Otherwise, let’s get to the clothing! 🙂

Street Level Benian Easy Tote with Chain Detail = KEEPER

I made a note to my stylist that I’d like a handbag in this fix and loved her pick! I need more large totes for traveling and weekend trips so this was perfect.stitch-fix-outfits-styled-4

41Hawthorn Presley Colorblock Button-Back Sweater = KEEPER

This is one of those pieces that prove having a stylist can be helpful—I never would have picked it out myself, but love it!stitch-fix-outfits-styled-11 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-10 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-12

Tart Aldo Faux Suede Detail Sweatshirt = KEEPER

This hoodie is so me. Basically if something is black and there’s faux leather involved, I want it in my closet no questions asked.stitch-fix-outfits-styled-14 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-17 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-15

How to Get a Good Fix

In addition to the “OMG I love Stitch Fix, too!” comments I get on these posts, I also hear the occasional complaint of a fix that was a total bust. Of course there’s a bit of luck that goes into these things as style and taste are more of an art than science, but I do think there are a few things you can do to greatly improve your chances of getting a fix you love.

1. Create a style board on Pinterest and link it to your Stitch Fix account. When you set up your Stitch Fix profile, there’s space to link to a Pinterest board. Do it! And if you don’t already have a fashion/style board, make one. It’s a great way for your SF stylist to get an idea of what clothing appeals to you. My stylist frequently refers to pins she sees on my Fashion board in the notes she includes in my fixes; I recently pinned a picture of a girl wearing burgundy pants and guess what I just got…stitch-fix-outfits-styled-3

2. Leave detailed feedback. When you check out online after receiving your fix, there’s space to leave feedback about each item you’re keeping or returning. Hated that shirt? Tell them why. Loved the scarf? Also tell them why. Your fixes will be more accurate as your stylist gets to know you better. Last time I told my stylist I was sending back a pencil skirt because I wouldn’t get much use out of it as I don’t work an office job and tend to wear casual clothing. Based on this fix, she totally listened! stitch-fix-outfits-styled-13

3. Request items you like. Whether it’s an item your friend got in a fix, a piece from a blog post like this, or something you spot on Stitch Fix’s Instagram, don’t be afraid to request specific items. There’s not a guarantee you’ll get them because of availability, but at the very least, it will give your stylist an idea of what kinds of pieces you’d like to see in a fix. You can request an item by leaving a note to your stylist in your SF account, or you can pin items to your Pinterest board. All the pics in this post are pinnable for that very reason!stitch-fix-outfits-styled-16 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-9 stitch-fix-outfits-styled-6

Which item is your favorite from my fix? Would you have kept any of them yourself? Current Stitch Fix users—any tips to add for getting a great fix?

  1. I love those purple pants, what is the brand? I wish Stitch Fix sent international, def will be signing up when I am back in the states.

  2. I love the gray and yellow sweater. The back is very cool But you are right – all of the items seem made for you.

  3. I love the jeans. love love love.

  4. I love the sweater with the buttons down the back! Super adorable. My problem with stitch fix is that the times when I’ve done it I still really feel like I’m overpaying. I love hunting for a good deal though!

  5. So cute!! My fav is the colorblock sweater 🙂 I haven’t stitch fixed, but I’m thinking I may treat myself to a fix soon. SO many cute things!!!!!

  6. Looks awesome! I don’t know about any of this “fake modeling” you look like a pretty great model to me!

  7. This is the best Stitch Fix I’ve seen yet, across a lot of blogs. I love all of your pieces. I’ve never used Stitch Fix before, but do get regular deliveries from LE TOTE, which you can read about here: http://aladygoeswest.com/2014/10/21/le-tote-clothing-is-the-netflix-of-fashion/ you can send stuff back after you wear it, which is perfect for me because I have a very small city closet.

  8. These pieces are BEAUTIFUL and you style them so well!

Love those jeans & the sweater!! My fixes are hit & miss…but I do love when I pin things and similar items appear at my door!

  10. Huh. I had no idea you could link your pinterest board to Stitch Fix. Love everything. If I sign up maybe I need to just tell them to send me what they send you! 😉

  11. The yellow sweater is fab!

  12. Nicole,

I love these posts because I’m really interested in creating a Stitch Fix account of my own but am a little curious about the price ranges for the clothes they send. Do you ever feel like the clothes are overpriced?

    • Hey Casey! When you set up your Stitch Fix profile, you can pick price ranges for everything. It’ll have you fill out “I would like to spend between $X and $X on dresses”…between $x and $x on tops…etc. So far all mine have been in my price range and of great quality 🙂

  13. Those maroon skinny jeans are PERFECT. I’ll be pinning your post for my next fix!

  14. I love those looks! I also am dying over your black booties you have on. Can you ye me where they are from?

  15. I agree, I think your modeling looks pretty “pro” and not “fake” at all. I’ve only had two fixes, but they’ve kind of sucked. Yours all look fabulous. I’m starting to think if you don’t have a blog to advertise for them they just send you the crap no one else wanted. 🙂 Hoping third times the charm.

Is that purse real leather? I love it. I found your blog because of your Stitchfix posts, but reading it has inspired me to get back in shape!

    • Aw I love hearing that! The bag is faux leather but it’s a great quality. I hope you have better luck with your next fix! If it still doesn’t work out, maybe you should request my stylist Layla–she’s been hitting it out of the park with mine!

  16. I wish you’d share the prices, pre SF discount, so people could get a better idea of what things cost. I know very few of those are under $50. Thanks!

  17. I am in LOVE with your black leather jacket! Is that from your stitch fix? Where can I find this!! Thanks so much! You look fab!

  18. Where are those olive green skinnies from?? Need them! And askibg for that hoodie too!

  19. I love your scarf that goes so perfectly with your burgundy skinnys wear did you get it?

  20. Berkeley says

Can you delete my previous comment? I didn’t realize that my whole name would be displayed. Thanks!

  21. Hi! Could you tell me where those fabulous leather panel leggings are from? Love them!!

  22. Looks like you’ve been happy with StitchFix! I had a horrible first experience. Sent me everything one size too big (not my fault I entered info correctly) and wouldn’t refund styling fee 🙁 Customer service was actually kinda snippy about it. What a disappointment, any other company would have offered to refund at least the first one!
