TONE

Taught at Btone Fitness Back Bay & Btone Fitness Wellesley

This is a 45-minute workout done on the Megaformer machine (think of a Pilates Reformer on steroids). It’s also often referred to as Lagree Method Fitness, SPX and Pilates Plus—but name aside, just know that it’s incredibly effective at strengthening and toning your entire body. I’m in love with this workout!

Functioning on a spring and pulley system, the Megaformer is able to work every body part in a way that’s extremely challenging, but easy on the joints. The pace of the class is slow, and we work to muscle failure, burning out a large muscle group before moving onto the next.

This class is great for all levels.

TONE ‘N TORCH

Taught at Btone Fitness Back Bay

Think one part Megaformer, one part bootcamp workout. In this 50-minute class, you’ll spend the first half on the Megaformer like a typical Tone (see above description), then we strap on our sneakers and do an interval training workout (like the ones I post on P&I!).

While on the Megaformers, we focus on core and arms; off the machines, we do a full-body HIIT workout, but with an emphasis on legs & butt. The second half of class will get your heart rate up with tabata intervals or circuit training, while giving your muscles a good ol’ burn.

TONE ‘N ROW

Taught at Btone Fitness Wellesley

One part Lagree Fitness; one part Indorow. Similar to the other hybrid classes offered at Btone, you spend the first 15-20 minutes of class on the Megaformer focusing on core and arms. The remaining half hour is spent on the water rowers. Rowing is an awesome cardio workout (similar calorie burn to spinning), and the racing structure of class makes it super fun. In a typical class, we’d warm up, do some intervals of easy pressure and hard pressure, and then get right to the good stuff: races. Whether it’s a team relay, distance or timed individual sprint, everyone (especially all you competitive people out there) seems to love this use of the water rower machines!

TONE ‘N RYDE

Taught at Btone Fitness Back Bay

One part Largree Fitness; one part indoor cycling. Similar to Tone ‘n Torch, you spend the first half of this class on the Megaformer, focusing on core and arms. The second half is a spin class on Real Ryder bikes. These not-so-stationary stationary bikes rock back and forth, mimicking the movement of a real, outdoor bicycle. It allows you to get the cardio benefits of cycling with some added arm and core work from stabilizing and moving the bike side to side.

I don’t regularly teach this class, just sub it from time to time.

I update this page each month, but frequently sub for other instructors last-minute, so be sure to check out the full studio schedules online! [Btone Fitness
