The first Studio Pumps workout is here! As I explained in yesterday’s post introducing the project, this is the first in a series of five Circuit + Tabata classes. This one is free and up on YouTube for all to enjoy. If you love it and want more, the entire pack is available for purchase HERE.
Included in that purchase is all five workout videos for download or stream. You’ll get two versions: one with background music and one with no music, just me talking. I know some of you like to play your own music while you follow along at home, so the voice-only versions are perfect for you. If you stream the videos on your phone at the gym, I’d recommend the versions with background music so it’s not eerily quiet. You also get printable PDFs of each workout routine.
The workouts all use the same structure, but the exercises are different. For example, in this one, the resistance band loop isn’t used much, but in other workouts you’ll use it for entire sections.
Since I dedicated an entire post yesterday to explaining how Studio Pumps works, I’ll try not to be too repetitive here and will get right to the workout!
Circuit + Tabata Class 1 – Studio Pumps Workout
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
- Set of medium dumbbells (I used 10lbs)
- Resistance band loop
This workout is divided in half. The first half focuses on lower body. The second half focuses on upper body and core. Within each half, you’ll complete a circuit and a tabata.
Circuit // You’ll go through five exercises a total of three times. You do the exercises for 45 seconds each, back to back. Rest for 30 seconds before doing the next set.
Tabata // You’ll alternate between two exercises using an interval structure of 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest.
The workout ends with a 60-second burpee challenge. Warm up and cool down are included. As with all workouts, always listen to your body, modifying or stopping as needed. In the video, modifications will be demonstrated on the right of the screen.
