Home Fitness Equipment Recommendations

Home Fitness Equipment Recommendations - Fitness equipment for at-home workouts that won't take up too much space. #athomeworkout #workoutathome #workout #fitness

Below you’ll find all my recommendations for home fitness equipment. These are the products that I personally use. When I share workouts, I’ll always link to the exact equipment I’m using for that particular routine. This page organizes it all in one place for anyone trying to build up a home gym with minimal space.

Resistance Bands

Home Fitness Equipment Recommendations: Resistance Bands

1. LIMM Loops (Set of 5) – lighter

This set of five resistance band loops ranges from really light to moderately heavy. I don’t think I’ve ever used the lightest one (it’s so light there’s almost no resistance), but I love the rest of the set. The blue is my favorite for upper body exercises. It’s light enough that I can get a big range of motion out of it, but provides enough tension that I’m challenged. The heavier ones are good for lower body work.

2. ProSource Loops (Set of 3) – heavier

This set of three is heavier than the LIMM set (the lightest ProSource = medium-heavy LIMM). I love these for lower body exercises but find them too heavy for upper body work (they don’t stretch as wide as the LIMM). If sold out on Amazon, you can also buy these directly from ProSource.

3. Hope Fitness Gear Heavy-Duty Hip Band – no slip

This is the most heavy-duty band I have, and it’s great for exercises with the band above your knees. It won’t slip or roll up, and provides a ton of resistance. I have the medium size (red). Because these are so heavy, you won’t get a huge range of motion, so think of this as your go-to for squats, glutes bridges, and exercises like that.

4. Stackable Resistance Band Set with Handles & Door Anchor

This set is super versatile. The resistance band tubes have carabiners at the end so you can clip them onto handles or a door anchor, customizing the weight with different combinations of bands. The set comes with four bands, handles, door anchor, and ankle cuff.

Dumbbells & Hand Weights

Home Fitness Equipment Recommendations - Dumbbells & Hand Weights

In general for dumbbells, I recommend a hex shape (six flat edges) vs round ends. This allows them to sit level and stable on the floor if you’re doing exercises like renegade rows, etc. A “medium” weight set is probably going to be the most versatile, so I’d recommend purchasing those first as you start to build out your home gym.

Heavy Dumbbells

I prioritize dumbbells available via AmazonPrime—especially for heavy weights—because of the free shipping. Otherwise the shipping can be more expensive than the actual weights! The AmazonBasics brand does the trick. These are sold singularly, so if you’re looking for a set, just be sure to change the quantity to 2.

Medium Dumbbells

I have sets of 8, 10 and 12lbs from this SPRI brand on Amazon. They are sold as a set so you’re getting two weights per purchase.

Light Hand Weights

For light hand weights (1-5lbs), I like neoprene coated weights. The grip is comfortable and doesn’t slip. If sold out on Amazon, try directly from ProSource.

Kettlebells

Home Fitness Equipment Recommendations - Kettlebells

I like ProSource as a brand for kettlebells. The rubber coating around the bell prevents slipping and makes it a little quieter when putting down on hardwood floors. Also makes for easy color-coding if you’re going to invest in multiple weights. If you’re starting with just one, I’d recommend going with whatever weight you swing. Some weights are available via Amazon as well.

Stackable Stepper

If you don’t have space for a long step bench, this small cube stepper is perfect. It comes with four risers so you can customize the height.

Sliders

So I’ve linked to the set of sliders I have, but honestly most the time I just use dish towels on my hardwood floors. But this set is double sided, with the fabric side for hard flooring and the plastic side for carpet.

Ankle Weights

The set of ankle weights I personally have is a random brand I found at TJMaxx. So I’m going to link to ProSource because it’s a brand I like for other equipment. They have sets from 1 to 5lbs.

Interval Timer

There are a bunch of interval timer apps you can download right to your smartphone (this is the free one I use). If you want a physical timer though, I’d recommend Gymboss. Their basic timer lets you customize two intervals. The MiniMax lets you customize a bunch of different intervals for more complicated workout structures. And the Plus bundle comes with a wrist strap if you prefer to wear it like a watch.

Ok I’ll keep this page updated as I add new equipment to my home gym!
